Discus aquarium
Discus, being an exotic fish requires peculiar living conditions that must be created to achieve the best breeding results. Firstly, the question of tank size must be answered. What size of tank are you expecting to breed you discus fish in? What determines this size? You must consider what space you have at home and what your budget size for this adventure is. Depth of tank is of paramount importance. Discus fish loves lots of water. The deeper, the better. The deeper it is, the more stable the conditions. Remember that your discus enjoys stable conditions. Your discus aquarium therefore, must be minimum 120 cm x 40 cm x 50 cm.
Your discus is shy and distrusts the surroundings. Consequently, it’s always best to keep the discus aquarium far from any noise or direct heat and light sources. Again, position the discus aquarium in a high position, possibly way off the ground to avoid undue stress caused by movement.
What stratum do you place at the bottom of your discus aquarium? This really depends on what your purpose is. If you intend to display your discus aquarium then gravel on the base is excellent. If not, then you could leave the base uncovered to make for ease in cleaning. As for what plants to put, natural ones are better. Plastic plants may look great, but you ain’t breeding plastic discus. You could have your discus aquarium plant selection delivered at home when you order by mail.
Also, rocks and driftwood as decorations in your discus aquarium are great. They tend to recreate the natural habitat of discus. Rock type is essential. The chosen rocks must not contain metal ore or contaminants. Rocks of the same color and texture are recommended. Similar texture prevents functionality problems particularly when the rocks have the same provenience.
Above all, keep the health and comfort of your pets above the good looks you may very much wish to create in your discus aquarium.

Discus Fish Secrets-Reviewed
Discus fish secrets
What’s more important- getting your priceless discus fish
or giving them proper care?
To me, they are both very important. If you get the discus without knowing
how to breed and care for them then you have trouble looming ahead.
Many a time, the discus sellers sell you the fish without providing breeding
and care info. This really spells a big challenge. A lot is left to guess work. How much
success could one achieve on guesses? Little or none, if you ask me.
Like what happened to me some years back. I bought a pressure cooker.
Took it home and was ready to put it to use. A terrible discovery took place.
The manual was written in a language I couldn’t decode at all.
The retailer said he couldn’t read the language either, but that I could
use the pressure cooker with ease. I took the cooker home. Tried a few times
with very discouraging results. I looked for a friend who had schooled in the particular
locale of the language in question. He couldn’t read nor interpret the manual either.
What was the overall result? The cooker spoilt too soon without giving the expected
results. Waste of money and time!!!! So next time around, I had to insist on a pressure
pot with supporting English-language manual. Had good service, good results each time,
and great value for my quid.
Discus fish is no different. You need a manual.
The best discus fish manual I have found so far is one written by
Rob Clark. This guy has been caring and breeding discus fish for well
over 10 years. He compiled his knowledge into a quick and easy to follow guide.
He cuts out a lot of fluff most guides have and just gives you the information
that works.
How many discus fish do you have in your fish house? 2? 10?
Oh, how about 100, 200 or more? Yes, with this guide you are well
on your way to exploding your discus fish number.
Reasons:
-You learn to provide the right environment
-You learn to give the right food at the right times
-You learn to give proper and adequate care to your discus fish.
You need correct and decipherable discus fish info. If you are having trouble caring
or breeding discus fish then Rob’s book, Discus Fish Secrets, will handle all the
problems.

Discus Fish Care
Discus Fish Care
The first information a discus fish breeder needs in his or her quest
to raise healthy discus is the fact that discus is a super sensitive creature.
What environment you breed your exotic discus matters quite some.
Discus fish loves deep water therefore, the aquarium must be built to meet
this requirement. In general, discus fish care demands nothing
extraordinary so long as the correct and healthy living water parameters
are met.
Weekly water change is not negotiable. But as mentioned earlier, discus
is supersensitive and doesn’t like changes.
How does one go around creating change for a creature that loathes
change?
Easy. Freshen only 25% of the tank volume.
For extra discus fish care use a filter that eliminates the heavy metals
and chlorine without altering the water pH.
Do you feed your discus fish with beef-heart?
This means there must be leftovers that would ruin the water
if left. Clear them.
For baby discus, the care is much more because they are fed more regularly
and crumps get the water dirtied more. Special discus fish care is required
here. Freshen about 30% of the water in the tank 3 times a week.
Mention should be made here that baby discus should be raised
without plants and decorations to minimize dirt in the tank.
You can access one of the best books I have seen on discus fish care
by clicking here!
But should you notice the unusual, call a vet or a professional
breeder to keep the issues under check.
With the right advice, keeping discus fish can be fun and rewarding, so ensure you check out the book.
